A trail can be more than a way to get from one place to another.
When thoughtfully designed, it can invite people to slow down, notice, wander, rest, engage their senses, and experience the natural world differently.
As a Certified Forest Therapy Trail Consultant through the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT), I work with retreat centers, recovery and behavioral health organizations, wellness spaces, private landowners, and other nature-based settings to create or enhance trails that support meaningful connection with the natural world.
I’m interested in more than where a trail goes.
I’m interested in how someone experiences it.
Where does the body naturally slow down?
What draws our attention?
Where might someone want to pause, sit, listen, or wander?
What is the land already offering that we don't need to create at all?
Good trail design doesn't force an experience onto the land. It pays attention to what is already there and creates opportunities for people to notice it.
Evaluating existing trails and natural features • Trail flow and pacing • Places for pause and reflection • Sensory and nature-connection invitations • Seating and gathering areas • Signage and orientation • Safety and accessibility considerations • Self-guided nature experiences
Every property is different, so every consultation begins with the land itself and with understanding who will be using it and why.
My own 22 acres, The Untamed Gathering Place, has become a living laboratory for this work.
Its trails, trees, creek beds, gathering spaces, and quiet places continue to teach me how differently people experience land when we create enough space for them to slow down and actually be in relationship with it.

My lens comes from more than trail design.
As an ANFT Certified Forest Therapy Guide and Trail Consultant, Neuro-Somatic Practitioner, and recovery professional, I bring an understanding of nervous-system regulation, trauma, recovery, grief, and the importance of creating spaces where people can experience choice, curiosity, and connection.
This work can be especially meaningful for retreat centers, behavioral health and recovery programs, treatment centers, wellness properties, therapeutic spaces, and private landowners who want their outdoor spaces to become an intentional part of the experience they offer.
You don't have to know exactly what you want to create.
We can begin by walking your property together, noticing what's already there, understanding how you want the land to be used, and exploring what's possible.
LET’S TALK ABOUT YOUR LAND to see you there.
