Trail Design & Consultation

A forest path covered in fallen leaves.

Creating trails that invite people into relationship with the land.

A trail can be more than a way to get from one place to another.

When thoughtfully designed, it can invite people to slow down, notice, wander, rest, engage their senses, and experience the natural world differently.

As a Certified Forest Therapy Trail Consultant through the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT), I work with retreat centers, recovery and behavioral health organizations, wellness spaces, private landowners, and other nature-based settings to create or enhance trails that support meaningful connection with the natural world.

More Than a Trail

I’m interested in more than where a trail goes.
I’m interested in how someone experiences it.

Where does the body naturally slow down?
What draws our attention?
Where might someone want to pause, sit, listen, or wander?

Good trail design doesn’t force an experience onto the land. It pays attention to what is already there and creates opportunities for people to notice it.

Trail Consultation May Include

• Evaluating existing trails and natural features

• Trail flow and pacing

• Places for pause and reflection

• Sensory and nature-connection invitations

• Seating and gathering areas

• Signage and orientation

• Safety and accessibility considerations

• Self-guided nature experiences

Every property is different, so every consultation begins with the land itself and with understanding who will be using it and why.

My Approach

My lens comes from more than trail design.

As an ANFT Certified Forest Therapy Guide and Trail Consultant, Neuro-Somatic Practitioner, and recovery professional, I bring an understanding of nervous-system regulation and the importance of creating spaces that offer choice, curiosity, connection, and room to slow down.

This work is especially suited for retreat centers, behavioral health and recovery programs, wellness properties, therapeutic spaces, and private landowners who want the land itself to become part of the experience.

The Untamed Gathering Place

My own 22 acres, The Untamed Gathering Place, has become a living laboratory for this work.

Its trails, trees, creek beds, gathering spaces, and quiet places continue to teach me how differently people experience land when we create enough space for them to slow down and actually be in relationship with it.

Have Land? Let’s Walk It.

You don't have to know exactly what you want to create.

We can begin by walking your property together, noticing what's already there, understanding how you want the land to be used, and exploring what's possible.
